ABOUT ME

Welcome to my corner of the web! :)

I'm a scientist with a strong foundation in chemistry and material science, driven by a passion for sustainability. My work focuses on developing biomaterials and characterizing biocomposites using advanced characterization techniques. My research interests include nanocellulose, bio-based materials, polymers, composite materials, and advanced material characterization. I'm passionate about transforming waste biomass into high-value products that support a circular economy. My expertise extends to organic synthesis, biochemical analysis, and bioproduct extraction, all of which I've applied in leading research and development projects with multidisciplinary teams.

I completed my PhD in chemistry at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, following my Master's by thesis at Massey University, New Zealand . My journey into the field of science began with a chemistry honors degree from the College of Chemical Sciences (ICHEM) in Sri Lanka. Before continuing postgraduate research, I gained valuable industry experience as a Pharmaceutical Quality Control Chemist.

Music is another one of my passions, helping me find balance and peace in my busy life. When I'm not in the lab, you'll likely find me hiking, traveling, reading, or capturing the beauty of mountains and beaches.
